This is usually an advantage, but not when you’re trying to take a panoramic photo with your DSLR. Or, maybe there's no advantage to it... For example: If I want to photograph a really long building, rather than setting up in the middle of the building and panning it, I start at the very left of the building at, say, 50 feet away, and take overlapping photos at that same distance until reaching the very right side of the building. This unwanted effect is very hard to avoid when you try to take a panoramic picture of a busy area.

I'll ask around to see what others might have up their sleeves!
