Plot Coming Soon, Regal Return to Horror High is an interested concept for a horror comedy. It's the 80s too, so the lighting is really garish and the fashion sense of the on-set costume designer is at best questionable. | "This is a low-budget B-movie; I'm used to actors dropping out!" The plot involves a film crew shooting a horror film in the same high school were a series of murders took place five years earlier. It was pretty bad all the way through, although the producer actually pulls of some good one liners. The filmmakers ambitiously tried to combine flashbacks with the movie-in-a-movie they were making, which was sometimes confusing, sometimes clever, but definitely worthwhile. We get a bit of George Clooney for the 15 minutes which was fun to see him in something trashy. Weren't you…. External Reviews This movie made no sense. I love the mask of the killer, very creepy. It's a film within a film, an opportunity missed as this is something of a confusing mess. One of the better Slasher spoofs. He said it was a bad movie and he turned it off after the first 20 minutes. Everyone appears to hate it, but I thought it was endearingly charming. Needless to say it's all a bit disorientating although but that's not to say it doesn't have it's moments. Man, did that make me cringe. Just confirm how you got your ticket. This 10-digit number is your confirmation number. The film does have a very complex structure and adds one bizarre twist after another in the last 30 minutes, and ends up not making a whole lot of sense; in that respect, it reminded me of the funny 1976 whodunit-spoof "Murder By Death". I made this for myself but I thought others might find it useful. before there was Scream, before there was Scary Movie, Provides some fun, but really isn't as good as it could have been ** out of 5. "What about all that blood? This movie could serve as a wake-up call to all those who thought "Scream" was oh-so-stunningly-original. But wait, it’s a horror movie, right? No? If people have trouble following this movie (which I didn't) perhaps it is because they are used to simplistic stories which do not demand anything from the viewer. Posted by Review by Hollie Horror ★★½ 3. Oh hello young George Clooney. Albeit confusing at times, this movie is definitely worth a watch. But despite the ending, despite Alex Rocco and Scott Jacoby performances and despite the Brady Bunch's Maureen McCormick as a sex obsessed policewomen (I kid you not), Return to Horror High just isn't all that it could have been. There are no approved quotes yet for this movie. Most moviegoers - whether they are fans of the slasher genre or not - who seek out 1987's RETURN TO HORROR HIGH look for an early appearance of Hollywood superstar George Clooney. It doesn't really matter if you're a fan of Mr. Clooney or not - he is one of the most powerful working actors today, and a trip into his not-so-glamorous roles of the past is always interested. I can't believe people actually recommend watching this ridiculous "horror" movie. I found the constant fake outs to be predictable and annoying. You could do a lot worse than this one. Well worth a read.…, Andrew Liverod 11,875 films 407 17 Edit. This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google privacy policy and terms of service apply. A killer is on the loose while a film crew is making a movie about a previous killing...at a school. The finale is a hell of a surprise. The basic plot follows a bunch of low-budget filmmakers who are making a movie about a series of murders that happened at a high school years ago. There's the massively under used but scene stealing Alex Rocco as the sleazy producer who's desperate to squeeze as much nudity into this picture as possible. It felt like a weird dream. So, some bright spark has had the wonderful idea of filming a low-budget horror movie to tell the story of the Crippen High murders and obviously they use the abandoned school as the location for the shoot. The percentage of Approved Tomatometer Critics who have given this movie a positive review. Few things. Yeah, that is a thing that happened. It's not that funny either. Yes, this is one of those movies in a movie. Overall this movie is incredibly confusing, it has horrible overacting, the killer looks like a linebacker in a shitty mask, and it has the worst ending I have ever seen. This movie is by no means a classic. Slasher Film Towards the End of the Trend. We won’t be able to verify your ticket today, but it’s great to know for the future. Meta-horror comedies began popping up in the late-80's, and this is no exception. Return to Horror High (1987) Directed by: Bill Froehlich Starring: George Clooney, a bunch of other people who never got famous Review by: Ben Bussey This is a slightly different kind of review for me. First both the guy and gal are hideous, they just shouldn't be intimate. One delightful scene really caught me off guard. This movie had some really good comedy bits, but they don't add up to make a good movie. The makers of the film are not alone however and soon history will repeat itself. I will give some points for being this bold in its confusing logic and some meta jokes. There's some reasonable gore - the lecherous teacher getting dissected is the standout scene - plus some gratuitous nudity thrown in. As for the horror side, there are good parts as well. Actually, the thing about Return To Horror High, and what makes it a memorable contribution to what at the time was becoming a fairly stagnant genre, is that you probably won't be able to imagine what's around the corner at any point, mainly because a lot of the time it's hard to work out what's going on at all.
