We were competitive for the entire first half, winning almost every key statistic on the field – however thanks to some clean finishing Sturt led eight goals straight to five goals three at the main break. One of our captains Sam Duke was comfortably best afield for us – reading the play and chopping off the opposition with 15 marks (7/8 intercepting) as he quelled the brunt of Sturt’s attacks. Bringing this many new players in from our bottom age newcomers to the program is really pleasing for our program – exposing over 75% of our squad to U18 football – even before college returns.
It is always hard when your season finishes earlier than you hoped for but in our COVID 19 impacted 2020 Season we have a lot to be grateful for – the SANFL and the WWTFC have done a fantastic job in navigating their way through the many and varied issues of COVID management to ensure the season was played and my thanks goes to them.

U18 Match Review Round 9 vs … The Blues were inaccurate though and that certainly allowed us to stay in the game and whilst we battled hard in the 3rd quarter to still hold a 2 point advantage at three quarter time, Sturt ran the game out much stronger than we did and won comfortably in the end, with a significant advantage in scoring shots as well. Henry Nelligan was pivotal with goals early and still found the ball easily enough.
