Anne Baxter & Richard Cpnte starring. The film is a good film noir classic. Baxter, miscast but game, plays the kind of girl who, instead of going out on her birthday, stays in with a picture of her soldier boyfriend, toasting it with champagne. Adding to the outstanding cast are Ann Sothern and Jeff Donnell as her roommates and Richard Conte as the newspaper reporter who makes an open appeal for the Blue Gardenia killer to come forward and trust him. So, why does it looks so cheap? Loved it then, and still do after all this time. Did anyone catch the bartender stating that he favors men romantically? Harry Prebble (Raymund Burr) is an artist who is a sleaze with women. Nat King Cole in his first cameo, I believe.
I particularly enjoyed the sets (the girls' apartment, the cafe, Raymond Burr's MCM swag apartment to name but a few). It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
