The nine tracks here are a dazzling display of moods as the title track starts with hypnotic drum beats, ‘tumur khuur’ and heads off into a metronomic pound backed by an almost whispered vocal, peppered by segments of ‘khoomei’. They come off as hard, maybe by Mongolian standards, but they have sooo much soul in the music and lyrics (assuming translations are accurate). I have read books about Genghis Khan and how he brought different tribes together to make a great nation and I'm sure he is still revered in Mongolia today.
