Sterk hoor. Adam needs help, and their time is quickly running out. But if you don't pay attention to the opening scene and a couple other key, if not obscure scenes throughout the story, you'll find yourself feeling a little lost in the woods like Adam and Claire are in most of this movie. How did they get there? Directed and co-written by first -time feature film director Corin Hardy (whose next film seems to be a remake of THE CROW, titled THE CROW REBORN! film die goed begint, maar zeer matig eindigt. Most of that could've been used better in a different film which is sadly why this will never be a classic when it very well had all of the goods in play. Pretty soon Alan's windows are being broken (A window replacement man tells Adam, "If you trespass upon them, they'll trespass upon you"). Daar moet hij vaststellen welke bomen er gekapt kunnen worden, iets waar de plaatselijke bevolking totaal niet op zit te wachten. De sfeer zit er door de omgeving goed in (al had ik liever nog wat meer rural Ireland gezien in plaats van het overvloed aan bos), en de monsters zien er best goed uit.

Een redelijke geslaagde Horror film die het vooral moet hebben van de sfeer (komt ook omdat het verhaal zich grotendeels in het donker afspeelt), het visuele aspect (zoals de beelden van de natuuromgeving) en toch ook wel de spanning en dat laatste vooral in de laatste 45 minuten van het verhaal. But Adam and Reeve's arguing threatens their mission.
De. Ik ben geen grote fan van horror maar op Halloween-avond pikken we traditiegetrouw graag nog enkele griezelige filmpjes mee.
This film could've really been remarkably by staying more subtle. het oude sprookjesboek met uitleg wordt amper gebruikt... gebruik het dan helemaal niet als er toch geen uitleg komt, op de wezens, die niet tegen licht kunnen, hand van een wezen naar het gezicht/oog van Clare. Voor de 2e keer gezien en de score wordt bijgesteld!

Niet helemaal geslaagd maar toch goed te doen.Sfeervol begin,sterk middenstuk maar tegen het einde ontspoorde het allemaal een beetje.Desondanks bleef the Hallow wel onderhoudend,mede door de fraaie beelden van de bosrijke omgeving.Bij tijd en wijle ook best spannend al werd de film hierin niet echt in meegeholpen door het wat matige verhaal.
