I noticed that this was recorded in the same year as the collaboration with Metheny. It resembles a highly elaborate version of pat-a-cake. Goldings is outstanding on piano as well as organ, and everyone involved contributes to making this a high point in contemporary soul jazz.

Such full on funky bluesy jazz with the guitar playing in my eyes best highlighting the distinctiveness of the Scofield style when set in such a more straight up context.
