Right now, the movie is in theaters. First, it will come to DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital, which is where you’ll be able to purchase on Amazon Video, iTunes, Google Play and all other digital platforms.
The original movie version is worth watching even if you have seen the other versions so many times you have the lines memorized.
I would imagine this would be confusing for some audience members not familiar with the story.
Robin Swicord's script is as tender and thoughtful as ever adapting Louisa May Alcott's novel. Meet the march girls, or the little women: Ballsy, tomboy Jo who does and says whatever she wants, Sweet, good Beth, artistic and sometimes snotty amy, and motherly meg.
I couldn't help but compare them to the 1949 cast..my favorite so well done by June Allyson, Margaret O'Brien, Elizabeth Taylor, and Janet Leigh (yes, the same who did the shower scene in Psycho years later). This is my favourite version of 'Little Women'. Especially the first one where the mother is reading their father's letter to their daughters, and the last with Jo and Professor Baer. I love Little Women and have read the book dozens of times and seen every movie version many times and loved them all. Greta Gerwig's adaptation of the timeless and beloved story of four sisters each determined to live life on their own terms. Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2020. Same lines just different faces. I felt the whole film that this was a sexist handling of the book. Due to streaming rights, a few shows play with an ad break before and after. Bought this DVD as I had heard it was a good production, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

It isn't bad enough we have waited for decades to get our hands on a hi-def copy of this superior version of the much loved novel, but now we get it on an MOD Blu-ray, not a properly stamped Blu-ray. Instead it is a boring crazy quilt of beautiful pictures.

Ich wünschte die Macher würden über eine weitere Fortsetzung nachdenken.
Ich bin mit dem Anime Miss Jo und ihre Fröhliche Familie aufgewachsen. Travelling or based outside United States? Ich würde es mir sehr wünschen!

I have watched many versions of this film, and I get that people love it because it was either the first they saw or they are devoted fans, but I just can't stomach the acting in this version. It has a warm and homey vibe though and though - you just feel that it was made in a slower time, with a different kind of attention to detail than one sees today in the age of churned out Netflix specials. A year has passed and there are new additions to the March family, but there is worry all around as Beth’s health and spirits flag.
I have loved this movie for years and years and was reminded of it when I saw it on TV a little while ago. In Little Women: Atlanta, the little ladies turn it up wherever they go - especially with club promoter Emily leading the charge.
It's quite frankly a grim reminder of how men saw women at the time, as over reactive sobbing and silly spectacles. According to IMDb there are more than 20 versions of Louisa May Alcott’s 2 volume tale, not including various TV series adaptations. Still, a beautiful show, read the book after, not before. The decision to follow a non-linear timeline for this movie is an odd one. I can honestly say the way the Director shot the movie was outstanding, the acting was exceptional and the I can tell you, I can’t stop rewatching and reliving in my head!
Apart from making it longer, I can't think what they could have done to improve on this version of the novel. Now you’ll want to know where you can stream Little Women. For personal and non-commercial use only.
It’s all on Hulu. The disc is wanting and that's a shame. Film begins 2/3 into the story and then does flash backs and flash forwards with out rhyme or reason.
Writer and executive producer Heidi Thomas shares what drew her to the novel, and director Vanessa Caswill discusses the need to be truthful to the novel.
Acting is wonderful. The flash backs are not explained and come and go with out notice. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
